Our Story
Our story began, as many God stories do, in prayer. While serving on staff at a suburban Boston church, God laid Acts 13:2 on my heart, calling us to set apart a new ministry closer to the city. After a year of prayer and confirmation with church elders, a clear vision emerged: a diverse, worship-centered community dedicated to preaching the full gospel, serving our neighbors, and sharing the light of Christ across the greater Boston area. Inspired by Jesus’ words in John 8:12, we named it Light of Life Church.
In early 2015, a small core team began meeting in my home to lay a foundation of love, prayer, and community. By December 2015, Light of Life Church officially opened its doors at 153 Alewife Brook Parkway in Cambridge—a strategic location right near the Alewife T Station, serving both city and suburban families.

Our Beliefs

There is only one true God, Creator of heaven and earth, who eternally exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the divine inspiration and inerrancy of the Scriptures, and the authority of both the Old and New Testaments.

God sovereignly created the world out of nothing, so that His creation, while wholly dependent upon Him, neither comprises part of God, nor conditions His essential perfection.

The Lord Jesus Christ baptizes regenerated believers in the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is an empowering work of the Spirit which is distinct from the regenerating work of the Spirit and is available to every Christian.

The Kingdom of God is a present reality and a future hope, forcibly advancing through the agency of the church.

God created man in His own image, in a state of original righteousness, from which he subsequently fell by voluntary revolt in disobedience to God, and as a consequence is guilty, inherently corrupt, and subject to divine wrath. Unregenerate man is totally depraved and under the dominion of the sin nature.

Jesus Christ the eternal Son of God, took upon Himself the form of a man by means of the virgin birth, lived a sinless life, yet retained His absolute deity, being at the same time both fully God and fully human.

Atonement for sin was made by the sacrificial and substitutionary death of Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit desires to continually fill each believer with power to bear witness to the gospel and imparts His gifts for the edification of the body and the work of ministry in the world. All the gifts of the Holy Spirit at work in the first-century church are available today and are to be earnestly desired and practiced in an orderly manner.

At death, the souls of the redeemed are made perfect in holiness and immediately enter into the presence of Christ, enjoying conscious fellowship with Him, there to wait the resurrection of the body.

On the third day after His death on the cross Jesus was raised from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, interceding in Glory for His redeemed.

Salvation is the free gift of God by grace alone and received by personal repentance from sin and faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ, which is manifested in works pleasing to God.

The Holy Spirit, eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son, through the ministry of regeneration and progressive sanctification applies salvation, guides and comforts the children of God, directs and empowers the church in fulfillment of the Great Commission, and convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment.

We practice two ordinances by command of Christ: (1) Water Baptism by immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving the gift of salvation by faith in Christ. And (2) Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.

The Lord Jesus Christ will return bodily, visibly, and personally to conform believers to His own image. He will judge the living and the dead and will effect a final separation of the redeemed and the lost, assigning unbelievers to eternal punishment and believers to eternal glory.
Our Mission
Light of Life Church exists to be a lighthouse, shining the light of Christ into darkness for all who seek the ultimate truth and life found only in Jesus.

Our Values

The Gospel simply means "good news." Jesus Christ came to earth, lived a sinless life, and died a substitutionary death on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. Through repentance and faith in His atoning work, we receive forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the free gift of eternal life—both now through the Holy Spirit and forever with Him in eternity.
Because Paul warned the early church against diluting or compromising God's message, we stand firm today against cultural distortions of truth. Without a clear presentation of the Gospel, there is no salvation and no power for true transformation.

Faith was never meant to be walked alone. We cultivate a culture of deep, sacrificial love where everyone is welcomed—regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic background, or past story. By breaking down the barriers that separate people, we strive to reflect Christ's heart to our city.

Prayer is the engine of our ministry. We prioritize personal and collective prayer, seeking God’s guidance, interceding for our city, and deepening our fellowship with Him.

Scripture is our ultimate authority for faith and daily living. We are committed to straightforward, verse-by-verse biblical teaching that equips believers to grow in wisdom and walk in truth.

Saved people reach people. We are actively sent out into our neighborhood, city, and world to share the love of Christ, serve those in need, and make disciples as Jesus commanded.
Our Leadership Team
Gus was a jazz saxophonist studying at New England Conservatory when the Lord redeemed and radically transformed his life. Soon afterward he felt called to the ministry, and over the years has served in a wide variety of ministry roles as campus pastor, assistant pastor, and currently as lead pastor of Light of Life Church in Cambridge. Gus also has an entrepreneurial bent and has been involved in developing several successful music education programs in the Boston area.
Gus has a passion to communicate the gospel in and through the local church, helping people encounter the transformative love of Christ. Experiencing the presence and power of God through prayer and worship have always been a major emphasis in his ministry.
Gus loves the outdoors, especially fishing and boating, and enjoys taking in the odd Celtics game at TD Garden with his sons.

Lead Pastor/Elder
Daniel surrendered his life to Jesus when he was 13 years of age in Malaysia. He grew up in a Buddhist family where “gods” are mysterious & unknowable and the road to enlightenment is about us toiling through an impossible scale system of good/evil deeds. Jesus died on the cross for our sin so that we can have relationship with Him! This truth is Daniel’s life passion to share.
He graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor’s in Contemporary Writing & Production. He has since been in full-time ministry, both in Boston and California for over 20 years.
Daniel now worship pastors at Light of Life Church. He is a passionate foodie and also enjoys working out, movies, gadgets & technology.

Worship Pastor/Elder
Rachel is a Boston-transplant, and she considers the Boston area her home. After moving here in her early twenties, she decided the city was much more her speed than her rural hometown in upstate New York. Her life's mission would eventually combine her love of Jesus, kids, travel, music and organization.
She was honored to live as a missionary in Pemba, Mozambique, Africa for three and a half years, leaving part of her heart with some of the children at the center where she served. In her spare time, she enjoys serving others, crafting, and well, laughing, as much as humanly possible.
